Visual3D is designed for organizational licensing. The first copy is $4995 USD and additional copies are $2000 USD each. Support for the first year is included for free. Visual3D licenses are permanent and the software does not expire.

Tech Support

In addition to expert assistance, maintaining support at $1250 USD per year provides continued access to web downloads for updates and new versions. Support is optional and the price covers the account, regardless of license count.

Student Versions

If you are a Visual3D customer and your support has not expired, you have an extra benefit. A bundle of 15 temporary (one-year) licenses is available for $750 USD. Additional licenses are $50 each. These licenses expire, so a new set would need to be purchased every year.

Dynamic Stereo X-ray
(DSX) Suite™

The most powerful and advanced suite of tools available for creating 3D visualizations and pose for biplanar radiographic images. (a.k.a. dual fluoroscopy)

DSX is software for generating rapid, robust, and reliable bone or implant pose estimation from radiographic image sequences with minimal operator intervention. The suite of applications enables the processing of the X-ray data from collection through analysis and reporting.

The X4D tool tracks bones and implants in X-ray trials, using single-frame or 4D optimization. The DSX algorithm solves for the 3D pose by registering two non-coplanar X-ray images of a bone to two digitally reconstructed radiographs (DRRs).

Visual3D was extended to integrate directly with X4D. The surface models and associated reference frames and regions of interest are loaded for additional kinematics processing and reporting.

To match DRR images to X-ray images, both sets of images are processed first. X-ray images are smoothed with a convolution filter, and then an edge detection algorithm is performed on them. The final processed X-ray image that is used for tracking is the edge detection image times a weighting factor, plus the smoothed intensity image. DRR images are not smoothed, but are input to the edge detection algorithm. The final processed DRR image is the edge detection image time a weighting factor, plus the original DRR image.

CalTester™

The essential tool for verifying forces and instrumented treadmills with motion capture systems.

CalTester is a laboratory quality assurance tool for validating the laboratory settings of force plates, instrumented treadmills, and motion capture systems by verifying the spatial synchronization of your motion capture systems and forces. It was originally developed for laboratory accreditation efforts because accurate and reliable kinematics and kinetics data are essential to movement analysis data in research settings. Errors in parameter settings or input calibration measurements will lead to incorrect values for kinematic and/or kinetic variables calculated during a movement analysis. CalTester will find those errors. CalTester should be used before each motion capture session to validate laboratory settings. This simple test takes only a few minutes, and should be performed prior to any data collection to provide reassurance that your data collection will be sound.

The CalTester rod is placed on the force plate or treadmill with a plate on the top and bottom to focus the forces at the end points. A good deal of pressure should be used to push down and move the rod around while capturing the motion.

Inspect3D™

Inspect3D is the tool to clean, classify or analyze data, accurately and efficiently. It is an ideal tool for large motion capture datasets.

Inspect3D can be used to manage, query and inspect large data sets by leveraging Visual3D’s CMO/CMZ Library functionality.

Data can be queried based on search criteria and combined into different groups:

  • Control vs Affected
  • Combine sides (Left/Right or Intact/Affected)
  • Analyze different signals
  • Create normal database for Visual3D Professional
Once data has been loaded into Inspect3D, outliers can be removed from the analysis by simply clicking on the signal.

Data can be exported to various text file formats (V3D, SPSS, etc.), or Principal Component Analysis (PCA) can be run directly from Inspect3D to find waveform differences and perform classifications.

NOTE: Inspect3D is a 64-bit application only - This is due to the large amounts of memory required for analysis.
